Carlsbad Spa

World-famous Karlovy Vary or Carlsbad is the biggest spa town in West Bohemia
and the Czech Republic`s most well-known. Established by Czech King and Holy Roman Emperor Charles IV in the middle of the 14th century, the spa soon gained popularity among rich nobility. The most prominent guest to Carlsbad in the 18th century was undoubtedly Russian czar Peter the Great. The town’s unique architecture, coupled with healing properties
of the thirteen hot springs, and nice environment attract guests from all over the world.

Culture

Extremely rich with cultural events, Carlsbad hosts several major annual events,
such as the International Jazz Festival, the Tourfilm travel film festival, and the acknowledged International Film Festival, frequented by famous movie stars from around the world. Classical music lovers should not miss the Dvorak Autumn festival and the Chopin Festival in nearby Marienbad. We recommend to your attention also the Fine Arts Gallery and the Municipal Theatre decorated by Art Nouveau painters Gustav and Ernst Klimt, and Franz Matsch.

Sightseeing

Carlsbad is located in a picturesque valley at the junction of the rivers Tepla and Ohre,
in the midst of natural parks and forests that invite for a relaxing stroll to explore the natural beauty and historic monuments in the town’s vicinity. These include Marienbad or Marianke Lazne Spa, the Kynzvart Castle, Premonstrate Monasteryin Tepla, the monumental Loket Castle, and chateau Becov nad Teplou.

Sports

Getting tired of spa treatments and slow pace? Why not try some of the sports opportunities in and around the town. Sports, most notably tennis and golf, have a long tradition
in the Karlovy Vary region. Many other activities, such as horse riding, hunting, fishing, winter sports etc. are also available.
